Why Give?

When you support CASA, you help us give a voice to Our Kids in court and in the community.

Champaign County CASA relies on a team of supporters behind the scenes to make our work possible. In addition to limited grants and contracts, which are subject to change from year to year, much of our funding and impact is thanks to our individual and business supporters like you.

One-time donations and recurring monthly gifts help provide stability to our program. More specifically, and most importantly, donor giving allows us to provide stability and hope to the children we serve. It is the generosity of people in our community that provides sustaining support and makes a life-changing difference.

The generosity of our supporters allows us to:

  • Recruit and train volunteer advocates, equipping them to serve Our Kids in the most effective way.
  • Employ professional staff to provide the highest quality support to every volunteer advocate as they stand up for Our Kids in court.
  • Provide expert legal representation for Our Kids in the courtroom.
  • Visit each of Our Kids and ensure they are placed in safe and appropriate homes.
  • Work to identify and secure what Our Kids need for their physical, educational, and emotional development and well-being.
  • Move Our Kids toward the goal of a safe and permanent home.

To me, CASA represents the very best in our community coming together to support children who have been abused or neglected. I began as a volunteer advocate and quickly realized the impact I could make being a consistent, trusted adult, supporting a foster child as their case worked its way through the child welfare system. When I became the advocate representative on the CASA board, I witnessed the community members that comprise our board wrestle with how to grow the daily infrastructure of CASA while still investing funds in a way that ensures no matter what grant funding looks like, the vital work of CASA will continue. And of course, none of this is possible without our donors, who faithfully and generously support CASA. From being a part of the boots on the ground, to working behind the scenes, it is an honor to work alongside other members of our community, responding in a positive, impactful way, so that children who have experienced abuse and neglect can begin healing from their trauma and begin living their best life in a safe, stable, permanent home.
